Italian Chamois: Elite 4D chamois pad is recommended for endurance. It is engineered and pre-shaped using four levels and densities of pad. The Air Mesh chamois is an ergonomic pad that is a state of art design. Imported from CyTech, an Italian expert. The shape is seamless and highly engineered. Air Gel Mesh inside the pad optimizes the shock impact and absorption, stays dry, does not compress and stays cool. The surface has a Resistex branded carbon fiber that is a knitted, brushed surface that feels soft next the skin.

Two Fabric zones: One, the internal crotch area is a rugged 77% Nylon 23% Spandex for stretch and abrasion resistance between the legs. Two, the outer side panels are constructed with our century fabric that is 83% polyester 17% Lycra.

* High spandex content enhances compression and blood flow to feed fresh oxygen to working legs.
* Leg band with minimalist silicone tips that keep legs in place.
* 3M reflective material with maximum luminosity and visibility in low light.
* Engineered for the anatomy and posture on the bicycle saddle to support long hours of riding.
* The leg band is high spandex fabric with light silicone gripper.
* Waist is 1 inch elastic that stays in place and supports waist.
* Elite Shorts have a leg length that is just above the knee.
* Seams are flatlocked for softness and stretch.
* Ideal balance of features creates a short that you are sure to love.

elite leg bands

The Leg Band is a highly technical combination of two high spandex fabrics laminated to a soft silicone gel lightly spaced for a gentle grip.

Bike Shorts - Won't ride up!

Legs have a soft elastic-free band with a light silicone gel that is incredibly soft and easy to wear. No binding elastic or rubber - yet the short stays in place during long, hard rides. The cuff is gentle on the skin and works perfectly to keep the shorts from riding up with the muscle flex during cycling.

Leg sizes are generous to prevent any type of muffin top appearance. The fabric is very stretchy and feels like a second skin.

The Italian made chamois pad is excellent for long distance road or mountain bike rides. It has a seamless surface design with a three dimensional combination of foams fitted together like a puzzle engineered to absorb road shock and act like a pillow on the saddle. The fit is anatomically designed with a combination of elasticity and density. This pad tested in the excellent category by our product development team. Color: Charcoal

The pad's face has a thin microfiber yarn knitted in three dimensions to cushion. It does not retain moisture and stays dry next to your skin. The Memory Foam is perforated for stretch and breath-ability.
The elite chamois pad can be used with anti-chafe creamif needed, but the way this pad is designed, it is so great at absorbing shock, you won't need much chamois cream except for the longest, hottest days. Gender specific pads optimize the performance for a bicycle rider. This pad is for men.

How 3M Reflective Material works:

Scotch-lite reflective material products use a technology known as retro-reflection. It helps the eye perceive light in low-light conditions. In more scientific terms, retro reflection occurs when light rays are returned in the direction from which they came. A large amount of reflected light is returned directly to the original light source, such as a car's headlights. Since very little light is scattered when the light is returned, retro reflective materials appear brightest to an observer located near the original light source.

Reasonably Comfortable
The shorts are reasonably comfortable. Pad seems to go too high in the front for me. Rode an 80 mile 5 1/2 hour ride Sunday and really not any better than some of my less expensive shorts. Okay but not as good as I had hoped for.

Over Hill Over Dale
Just returned from a week of riding in the Yorkshire Dales and the Aero Tech Elite Shorts were perfect. We averaged rides of about 45 - 50km per day and the shorts made the ride comfortable. I am usually between a medium and a large but ordered a large in these shorts. The length and close fit helped hold leg warmers in place. I never felt the pad the whole week. Weather was on the cool wet side and the shorts helped me stay warm and dry. I'll b ebbing a second pair.
ProsNo seams or valleys in the chamois pad
ConsNot really a con, but fit runs a bit tight so order accordingly.

Thank you ATD
You asked if I might be able to see if I can offer any suggestions and email them to you. These shorts are wonderful, the material is top notch and the sizing is perfect. I would make a couple of manufacturing alterations especially since your facility is right there and you can do hands on modifications: the pad is the best I've used, but it is sewn a bit to high in the back, by about 1 inch. The benefit of full saddle to pad contact is minimalized when the largest area portion of the pad doesn't come into contact with the saddle. Because the pad was sewn to high in the back, it meant that the front of the pad was further back, causing minor irritation from the front of the pad with body parts, causing me to adjust my "package' frequently, again I think adjusting the pad would solve the problem. The length of the legs is about 1 inch too long, causing material to bunch up in between the upper thigh and crotch. Shortening the length would allow the material to be stretched to mid thigh which is perfect for ultra long distance events. The silicon leg grippers are great, but without shaven legs you may want to add some more, I found the legs starting to ride up without a good grip on hairy legs. I know this seems like a lot of info, but I know the product is perfect and can be a real benefit to long distance riders. If you want me to test any of the modifications I would be honored too.

Not the long ride shorts they are advertised to be
I bought these shorts because of the advertised comfort for 80-100 mile rides and many positive reviews. I just recently began riding 40+ mile rides and maybe my body has not adjusted to longer rides in the saddle. But after a 50 mile ride today, I am sore and would not rate these shorts any better than other shorts I have in my drawer. They seem to be well built, but I have other shorts that seem to have a thicker pad than these.

Did not love these at first
I bought a pair of these shorts last year and found the fit to be a bit higher in the waist than normal and experienced some chaffing with my Phenom saddle. The more rides I got in these shorts I came to like the higher waist. They sit at about the same height as bibies. Recently changed to a selle italia friction free flite saddle and the chaffing went away. These are now my preferred shorts based on comfort. I ride 3 to 5 hours several times a week and bought a medium size for my 150lb 5ft. 9in. frame. These are less money than most high end shorts, made in the USA, and for me at least, do not move around and need to be "adjusted" during long rides. Thanks Aero Tech

Great fit, great chamois
My best fitting and most comfortable shorts ever. I don't usually spend $80 on shorts, but liked that there was good info about the different padding options that I could see before ordering. Turned out to be $80 well spent, as shorts last me years. I'll keep my old shorts for spares and definitely use the AeroTechs for longer rides. I'll be ordering another pair soon. Have already recommended them to my brother.
ProsYou can see what you're getting before you order, they're delivered fast, and they are just really nice shorts.

5 stars with minor caveats
I have to give Aerotech 5 stars for making reasonably priced gear in the USA. That said, the stitching and cut of the chamois isn't perfect. I have two pairs of these shorts, and they chafe differently depending on who was cutting the chamois and running the sewing machine. I don't use chamois creams and I assume that any bike bike short is going to chafe to some degree, especially on longer rides, But my observation is that these shorts have "chafe points" where the chamois is sewn into the short. Unlike other reviewers, I have no issue with the degree of padding or the height of the waistline. The padding is perfect. The waistline is a little high for me and rolls over, but I'm also 47 and a little fat. ;-) I wholeheartedly recommend these shorts for their value and country of origin.
ProsPadding and fit.
ConsSeam between the short and the chamois is a point of chafing.

A good bicycle short
I am 5'9" at 230# bicycle rider and the XL fits perfectly. They are comfortable with good padding and I like the fact that they are made in the US. On 20 to 30 mile rides I have no complaints and now own two pair.
ProsSizing chart seems to be very accurate for these shorts.

Seem well made, short on padding
Chamois padding is light, very noticeable on ride. I wear a medium and although waist size was correct the vertical length of the short, waist band to leg cuff is very long. I have worn Santini gel shorts for several years but they do not appear to be available anymore.

Great Long Distance Shorts
Our entire family has these shorts for our annual MS 150 bike ride. They are comfortable and have great padding. They are part of our main equipment on a long ride. Wouldn't want to be without them!

Top Quality and Comfort
I love how Aero Tech Designs strive to make technical cycling apparel for everyone with the goal to create comfort on the bike. Previously, my biggest problem was that I could not find padded shorts in my size for the larger man. But now I am extremely happy with my Aero Tech Elite Padded Bike Shorts. The quality and comfort is supreme and I am well on my way to my weight loss goal while rediscovering my enjoyment for cycling again. The shipping was surprisingly fast to Australia and communication was very good throughout the whole process. I would thoroughly recommend these shorts for the quality of their construction and for offering maximum comfort.
ProsFeels good to wear offering support throughout the legs without riding up. Thick chamois is well positioned for maximum comfort and blends seamlessly into the legs without being intrusive. Cannot feel any seams at all.
ConsThere are no cons.
Best UsesI personally would not skimp on price to sacrifice quality and comfort on something that was going to determine if my ride was enjoyable or not.

comfortable on long ride but waist is too long
I like the shorts except for the fact the waist is too long. Ordered a medium as in previous pairs of shorts(not aerotech) but find the waist is several inches higher/longer than the other shorts. By turning down a couple of inches they will work. Seems more like they are made for a tall person.

I like 'em
Would be 5 stars except they chafe a little on a 40+ mile ride and there are not enough panels...maybe the two are linked. Never had issues of chaffing with Sugoi or LG. However, for long distance shorts, these are awesome! Yesterday I rode 51 miles and it felt like 15 miles with other shorts. They are on par (or maybe above) with a pair of Sugoi I bought 9 years ago, when Sugoi made a quality product, unlike the pair I bought last year (20 mile shorts at the most), but they don't make them like they used to. Anyway, back to Aero Tech...I will be buying more (and anti-chaffing cream).
ProsVery well padded. I like the feel of the material.
ConsChaffing. Too few panels.

great pad
I"ve done 40,58 and 70 mile rides and they are very comfortable. I got them just for doing longer rides. The only reason I don't give them a 5 is because of the very long waist. I have to roll over the top 1 1/2 inches though they are still comfortable that way. I have long legs and they could be another inch longer as well. Overall I love the comfort for the long rides. I'm 5' 11", 155 lb and a medium is the right size.

First Century Complete
I'm 6'2", ~250, waist 38 - 40, I got the XL. Before getting these, I picked up a pair of Cannondale Classic on sale from REI, which are ok. I bought the Elites because of the reviews and detailed information on the site. I find the material on the Elites to be better quality and the pad to be thicker. I only use the Elites since receiving them. I have a performance bike sportif saddle, 15cm, DIY sitbone measure was 13cm. Aside from the natural crotch adjustments during a ride, everything has been great, like the shorts are part of you. I waited to review until finishing my first century. I had no pain, no chafing. I've done 50+mile rides with no cream, and for the Century I used some. I'm new to cycling, I like a lot of info, I want to choose right the first time when I get something. I'm totally happy with these.
