Very comfortable.
I've grown to prefer these gel shorts over my regular padded shorts. They're less bulky and very comfortable.
ProsMesh side pockets are handy for small items Less bulky than regular riding shorts Very well-made and durable

Gel works
I always stayed away from gel, but these are layered, not all gel. I like the length, we'll made and comfortable. Waist is deep enough to stay up during ride.
ProsPockets are cool idea, and useful.

Pretty good, though not long distance
Like the idea and functionality of the pockets. Shorts are moisture wicking and comfortable. Like most gel chamois materials this will begin to mat a become less comfortable after four or five hours. Used these on long rides of 50 to 60 miles. Not sure I'd take these on a century ride or loaded, non-supported tour covering more than fifty or sixty miles per day. Overall very nice, but four stars because a little less than I would expect based on the description.
ProsPockets, moisture wicking, comfortable
ConsNot recommended for extended rides covering more than 5 hours or sixty plus miles.
Best UsesLight touring, half day rides.

Glad I bought!
My experience with purchasing speciality sportswear online has not been great, but this time it was quite easy. The shorts fit well and I can finally ride without pain...plus they look good also.

Nice Cycling Shorts - Nice Features
I really like the innovative design with the mesh sides, as I like to keep certain things handy, and this will do the trick. The Gel seat is just what the doctor ordered, and really helps out when riding. I would highly recommend both the company, and these shorts to anyone who is larger and really wants to get into cycling. I bought basic black, so I could wear them with anything. I started with Aerotech when I was 40 lbs heavier, and could not find any cycling clothing that would work for me. I got tired of talking with 140 lb cyclists at the bike store, who basically told me to give up... but Aerotech has lines of clothing for almost anyone. I had purchased a pair of mountain bike type shorts a couple of years back, and I'm still using them today -- they have worn like iron. I purchases these cycling shorts to update my clothing and get a better fit after losing weight -- I used the size chart -- and they fit extremely well, and I still have some 37 lbs to lose!

Comfortable shorts for a long ride
Having just finished RAGBRAI I can recommend these pants. The gel padding makes a big difference whether the ride is short or long. I wore these all week and have been very happy with not only the fit but the comfort. I have four pairs of these now and they're the only bike shorts I'll wear.

The mesh pockets are really handy
I like the pockets for after I ride and I need a place to put my wallet, keys, etc. The padding in the shorts didn't live up to the hype though. I only ride on weekends, so I don't have a "conditioned butt", so I look for a thick pad. These are OK, but not as good as the Bontrager shorts I have. However, they cost quite a bit more. So, overall they're OK.

Absolutely the best padded shorts - the pockets are a bonus!
I have very little muscle over my sit bones and on long rides always got sore. The padding in these shorts is wide and thick, but don't bind or interfere with movement. The pain is gone. The mesh pockets are invisible, but handy to keep an ID, bandanna or other soft items; I'd not recommend as a substitute for your jersey back. Overall great product and I bought a second one.
Prosextra wide and thick padding mesh pockets
Consprice, but worth it if you have pain

My favorite bike shorts
I really like these shorts! They fit great (may run a tad large), have excellent chamois and the mesh pockets are crazy huge, but resume shape when unloaded. THese are nice for just leaving on for a drive home after a ride, because you can put all your regular carry-junk back in the pockets.
ProsSee above.

Love these!
I just did a 150 mile ride in these and they are the best shorts I have. I will be buying another pair! Even in the rain, they were perfectly comfortable.
ProsPadding is great and the pockets are really useful for small things. Not sure I'd load them up but that's just me.
ConsNone as yet!

Love the pockets
The mesh pockets are very useful and allow me to wear normal cycling shorts vs. cargo cycling shorts which aren't very comfortable.
ProsMesh pockets allow carrying several items securely while riding.
ConsVery pricey at $80.

Great feeling even after 4 hours.
I have worn these shorts 3 times so far. I was very impressed on the two short rides (under an hour and a half) so I decided to wear them on a metric century. No problems. The fit is very comfortable and the chamois is great. I have not really used the pockets as they seem a little odd. Maybe they will grow on me. These compare nicely to other shorts that are more expensive.

Good, but not what I expected.
I have been purchasing my biking shorts from aero/tech/designs for a few years and Love them. The pads are thick, actually i wear 2 pairs each time i ride thus giving me all the padding i need. I am 150 pounds and ride 5 to 6+K miles each year spring-fall. For some reason these shorts just did not feel right with 2 pairs on so i just used the new pair, and the padding was not enough, shorts were uncomfortable and created some sore spots on my butt. I ended up going back to my regular 2 pair system and have no issues at all. I will definitely try the new pair again with a second pair of bike shorts and hope that this time they work well. I like the mesh pockets and the overall fit, BUT like i said they did give me some uncomfortable miles.
ProsMesh pockets
ConsDid not like the string around the waist, the padding just did not seem correct to me, gave me some sore spots on my butt.

May 2017 Gel Shorts
I love these shorts! I'm a big rider at 215 lbs @6'0". I've been doing 200 miles a week for the last month and these shorts keep my rear end from hurting. I have the XL size and they fit great. I haven't really used the mesh pockets much but they certainly work and you don't even realized the pockets are there. I now own 3 pairs!

Comfortable. Great pockets!
These shorts fit comfortably and the gel padding is excellent. I've been surprised by how much I've used and appreciated the side pockets--a convenient spot to stash keys or phone or anything you want quick access to--much easier than digging in a back jersey pocket. Highly recommended.

Nice pair of shorts
These may be my best pair of bike shorts right now. The gel is comfortable. The pockets are useful -- need more experience to see if they will hold up.. the leg seams above the knee seem a bit irregular - do they fold up underneath or extend down? Still trying to decide.
ProsGood padding, comfortable. Pockets are utilitarian.

Cycling shorts with pockets? Great feature.
These are one of the only cycling shorts I have found with pockets. A great feature, not that I use the pockets while I cycle long distance, but they are great to have when needed. The cycling short pockets are an excellent, safe place for temporarily holding things before I get on the bike, or if I have to stash a rain jacket layer.
ProsThis is my 2nd pair of the exact shorts and they lasted many miles.
ConsMy only complaint is when I got the new pair the fabric itself on the shorts seems a bit thin, almost see-through when I stretched it. Not the padding but the fabric itself, when I stretched it, seemed not as thick as I remembered my old ones or would have preferred because I like a little more privacy shield. But I wore them and they are quite comfortable.
Best UsesThe pockets are best when I am getting ready to go for a ride and have a lot in my hands to juggle before I put them in my read jersey pockets or seat bag (like keys or ID/cash). Often, I have to drive to first to get to my club's ride starting location, so the pocket's on my rear jersey are not the place to stash items while driving as they will be pains in the lower back or perhaps break my sunglasses. And, they are great for the times when I have to take off a jacket or layer of clothing when it warms up. Soft apparel goods are often hard to fit into small back jersey pockets. But in the big, stretchy mess short pockets, apparel layers are comfortable enough to keep stashed for the completion of a ride. These pockets are also great when I stop for a coffee or snack, making it easy to juggle my wallet, glasses, etc.
