When the temperature drops, most cyclists know how to layer their upper bodies. But what about your legs? They usually take the brunt of the freezing wind, road spray, and chill.
For years, our Thermal Windproof Pants have been the go-to solution for commuters and winter riders. They are warm, windproof, and durable. But at Aero Tech Designs, we believe even the best apparel can get better.
We listened to your reviews, read your emails, and went back to the design room. The result? The new and improved Windproof Pant.
Here is what we changed - and what we kept the same.
The Upgrades: You Asked, We Listened
According to Aero Tech Designs owner Ted Rogers, the goal was simple: "We took in all questions and concerns and made updates to make it even better."
We made two major changes to the design based entirely on customer feedback:
- New External Drawstring: The previous version had an internal drawstring that some riders felt was too bulky against the waist. We fixed it to feature an external drawstring. This allows you to dial in the fit securely without that extra material bunching into your stomach while you ride.
- Zippered Side Pockets: You need a safe place to put your phone, keys, or cards. The new pants now feature two side pockets with secure zippers. Now you can carry your essentials on the bike without worrying about them bouncing out while you pedal.
The Tech: 3 Layers of Protection
While the features have been refined, the fabric engine remains the same powerhouse our customers trust. These pants use a sophisticated three-layer softshell laminate explicitly designed for cold-weather exertion:
- The Shell: A durable face fabric that withstands abrasion and features a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish to shed light rain and road spray.
- The Insulation: A waterproof, breathable membrane creates the shield. It blocks the wind while allowing moisture (sweat) to escape, so you don't overheat.
- The Warmth: Brushed fleece against the skin. This traps body heat to keep your muscles warm and wicks moisture away from your legs.
Built to Pedal
Hiking pants or sweats don't work on a bike because they pull at the knees. The Windproof Pants are cut specifically for cycling. Features to make this possible, such as:
- Articulated Knees: Pre-shaped curves in the knee area allow for a smooth rotation without the fabric pulling tight.
- Stretch Panels: Strategic zones allow the pants to move with you, not against you.
- Ankle Zippers: Long zippers at the ankle allow you to open the pant leg wide. Making it easy to pull your cycling shoes on if the weather turns mid-ride, or to take them off.
Sizes for Every Body
The cold isn't for everybody. That is precisely why we designed these pants to keep it out.

We stock these in sizes Small through 4X-Large, and unlike most winter apparel, we offer Tall lengths for riders with longer legs who need the extra inseam to stay covered.
