Why Merino Wool?

Merino wool is an incredibly soft natural fiber. It is sustainable and renewable. Producing the fabric has a relatively low impact on the earth. Merino wool is excellent at regulating body temperatures. Technically speaking, and depending on the weight of the knit, merino wool can be used all year round. For cyclists, one of the most important benefits of merino wool is its moisture wicking properties. The fibers naturally pull moisture away from the body where it can easily be wicked away. We designed these items with cyclists in mind, but all of them are very capable of being used for other outdoor activities or for casual dress.

100% Merino vs Merino Blend

There are arguments for each side about which is better, and here's why we decided to go with the blend over 100% merino wool. Using a blend of polyester actually speeds up drying times. This is a great benefit for cyclists. Using a merino wool/polyester blend adds durability to the wool. Wool by itself can be a delicate fabric, and adding polyester to it will strengthen it up. This is important when it comes to washing. A blend can be put in the wash (gentle cycle, cold water) and air dried. Lastly, adding merino wool to polyester drastically helps reduce the odor that 100% polyester can produce.

This Merino Wool Base Layer is made from a merino wool/polyester/nylon blend that improves the wicking properties to reduce drying time. Merino wool is naturally an excellent material to absorb and wick sweat from the body.

Our Merino Wool is a mid weight which is great for a wide temperature range. This shirt can be worn as a base layer under a jersey or by itself!

It doesn't get any better than a soft, comfortable, and warm skull cap under the helmet on a chilly day. This will pull sweat away from the head and wick quickly, keeping you warmer even on chilly rides. The binding around the edge keeps the cap in place without being too tight.

All our merino wool products are made in the USA, and come with an unconditional warranty against manufacture defects.
