Gore Men's Inner 2.0 Tights Pro+
This is a review for Gore Men's Inner 2.0 Tights Pro+ with "Power Trail Men" seat pad/insert. Purpose: I purchased the padded liner shorts to wear mainly under my pad-less fall/winter cycling bib tights for road cycling. This configuration provides more flexibility. For example, one can wear the pad-less bib tights for other sports such as cross-country skiing/skating. In cycling, one can quicky wash and dry the liner after every ride while washing the pad-less bibs less frequently. Another planned use for the liner is to wear it under regular shorts while running errands on bike or when one can change from the padded liner into regular underwear in commuting to work, etc. Sizing: I am 6'4" and 190lbs. Based on the Gore Bike Wear size chart, I am between L and XL for the pants. I was hesitating between these two sizes. I use a lot Castelli padded short bibs and bottoms in size 3XL that size works perfectly for me. Also, I personally do not like too much compression especially when multiple layers of bottoms are combined. I am satisflied with my XL size selection for the Gore pant liners. The liners are not too large. I have only slight complaint about the cuffs at the bottom of thighs that I would prefer to have slightly tighter but it is not causing a problem. Performance: The quality of the pants looks very good. They have large mesh sections on the sides. The waste band is comfortable. Overall, the liners are very thin and light. As one would expect in a summer liner, the pad is rather thin which works fine for me. A complain I have is about the pad surface material but I am pampered by using excllent Castelli Progetto X2 pads that are one of the best on the market and use silky smooth fabric. I contrast, Power Trail Men insert has dimpled design I assume for faster drying and more ventilation (similar to for example to some very good Assos pads) and much rougher fabric. For this reason, I am giving the liner only 3 stars. However, the pad fabric is a personal preference. Power Trail Men insert might work very well for many other cyclists.
ProsLight weight, good quality stitching, plentiful ventilation by side mesh panels
Cons Rougher pad fabric that some riders might find somewhat less comfortable
